Sherri Baldy's My Besties Sparkle Stamped Dress for Sadie

This last summer i came up with this idea to make a dress for my granddaughter, Sadie, using a stamp and fabric ink for the bodice of the dress. It was successful and i thought i would share some views and the Youtube video i just released saying how i made the bodice for this dress.

Here is the finished dress with my grandaughter, Sadie wearing it:

My Besties Baby outfit for Sherri Baldy's granddaughter, Blakely Ann

I purchased some of the Sherri  Baldy My Besties fabric designed by Sherri Baldy called Besties Forever and i thought what is more perfect for her new grandbaby than to make an outfit with the fabric she designed??

Timeless Treasures has released this fabric called Besties Forever and it is available in many fabric stores on line. Here is one store that carries her fabric..Craft Town. You can also purchase it at Sherri Baldy's Etsy store here.

Here is a onesie with an applique i added, applique heart to the bottom of the shoes and bottom of the onesie...all are from the Sherri Baldy's fabric line. Then i made a matching two layered skirt. I also added a bow to the hat.  I love this fabric and have also used it for my granddaughter Sadie.

It's all about a heart outfit- Day 3 & 4 KCW

This outfit is considered day 3 & 4 for Kid's Clothing week challenge.  I have used a Simplicity pattern 1476a to make this outfit for Sadie.

I made the top and added some fringy type trim..instead of the ribbon shown on the pattern. Then i added a drawn heart by Sadie for a patch.  i also reversed the pattern for the ruffle on the pants.  The only meticulous thing was that my daughter decided that she needed to  "burn" the edges of the fabric for the pants...the fabric was polyester and it frayed terribly.  This is when i wish i had a serger and then that i would know how to use it if i had one.

Here is my granddaughter drawing the heart for the patch:

Day two for Kid's Clothing week, theme is Kid's Art

Today, i made this dress for my granddaughter.  When i told her mom (my daughter) i was making some dresses/clothing for her this week, i was wondering if Sadie would draw something for me..  She did, and i will use it on another outfit this week but for now i am using something she wrote.  My daughter scanned what she wrote and i enlarged it to fit on a pocket, and then i traced it and embroidered it onto the pocket.

Here is the fabric i bought because of what Sadie wrote and because i thought it went with the Kid's Art theme.

This is the pattern i chose to make her dress with.  I did alter it slightly.  The dotted ruffle according to the pattern is suppose to be just half of the front and it was supposed to be top-stitched raw and you were suppose to ravel it.  That is sooo hard for me to have raw edges..so i made the ruffle go all the way around and i sewed it into the seam..no raw edges.

Here is the finished dress:

My 1st day sewing in the Kid's Clothing Week challenge

Today, i chose to use this fabric pictured below.  I felt it looked like the dogs were hand drawn and painted by children.  I paired it with the stripe fabric, but in the end added a white dotted brown fabric for more accent:
Next i chose a Pattern from Oliver+s as my base pattern called School Photo dress. Meaning that i used parts of the pattern to achieve my look based on the body type of my granddaughter.  I used the bodice front, sleeves, cuffs and collar.  Then i folded the back top of the pattern to achieve the same look in the back.  I had to use the under arm sections to the pattern but extended them by 11" so that i could gather the "skirt" part of the dress instead of doing the sections.  This also eliminated the need for the pocket.
Next i stitched up the dress using a size 7, i felt it lacked something besides the dotted fabric so...
I decided to add these awesome wooden buttons to the seam line of the bodice/skirt front.
ta da..done for the day..on to planning for day 2!  I will also have accessories to go with the dress to share too!

One of my favorite patterns from Oliver+S called Seashore Sundress

I love making this dress for my granddaughter, it is so unique and even though i've made several they all look different because of the fabric.. Here is a link to the pattern and store -> Seashore Sundress by Oliver+S.

I am getting excited about the upcoming Kid's Clothes Week July 21-27

I wanted to get some posts up with some Kid's Art i've done in the past seeing as next week i will be participating in the Kid's Clothes Week with the emphasis on "Kids Art".

My granddaughter drew this picture of Rapunzel and i interpreted it on a shirt for her by paper piecing and hand-stitching around the image to highlight it.

What we did is she drew it with a pencil and i traced around it with fabric crayons (so that the image would be correct as she drew it when i ironed it on the shirt).

Then i cut the pieces out and traced around them onto heat and bond and cut and pieced them on the "sketch".

I need to interpret for you..the yellow is Rapunzel's hair..i added the flowers to the shirt because the crayon tends to "shed".  I added the yellow hair to the top, and buttons for her eyes!
Here is the artist wearing her shirt.  She was 4 when she designed this.

Designed by Sadie age 4..first on her Doodle board then on paper. :)

Thanks for looking!

Sami Stamps, featuring Plain Tie digi as an applique

Many times card makers will make a paper pieced digital image for their cards, this time i thought i'd make a fabric applique.  I have found the perfect digi for this tie at Sami Stamps and it is called "Plain Tie".

I have made a video showing how i made this applique and how i hand sewed it onto a onesie and a medium youth t-shirt.  My niece had a baby boy and i thought it would be more of personal gift if i made the baby a onesie and another one that would match for his big brother!

Blythe's Jewelry, flowers and a bunny!

I have made three more necklaces for Blythe.  They have a key chain closure.

Here is the daisy version
Here is the Blue Woodland flower version:
and lastly a Bunny necklace:
Thanks for looking!

Blythe's Woodland Gnome collection

I've had this sweet Gnome print for a while.  I made some clothing for my grandson's when they were small (they are now 7) and i saved the leftovers..and i decided to use it for this collection for Blythe.

Here is the dress i designed, she has a hand sewn sequin flower with a ribbon flower for an accent:
Here is a close up:
Next my daughter thought a cape would be nice so i used this super soft fur trim and added ric-rac and some small pompoms along the bottom and then i made the tie closure. This cape is lined. This also shows the hat before i finished the edge.
One more thing for this collection is the Gnome hat.  Again, i made this one up and i rather like it..but then that's my taste i guess, it is wool and lined.

Blythe is Quite Foxy collection

Whenever i spend time with my daughter in CO, i get encouraged to create clothes for Blythe.   She visited Japan just before Christmas and intentionally purchased a Blythe doll for my Christmas present.  I haven't photographed this Blythe yet, but i promise to!

While i was visiting i decided to create a Fox sweater and from that came the pleated skirt and then the crocheted hat.

I made up the pattern for the sweater and hand embroidered the fox face on the front.  The pleated skirt is from a Simplicity Blythe pattern that has been retired.
So the next thing i made was a matching Fox crocheted hat that I made up, the fox has a ribbon nose that blends in with this Blythe's hair.  I should have taken the photo with a different Blythe.

Just for fun i also made a Fox necklace:

Simply I Love You Blythe collection

For this month, i decided to produce this outfit for Blythe.  The pattern is a take-off of one of the dresses i made for my granddaughter that is 4.  This design was a bit shorter than the pattern for my granddaughter so i added the tulle to give it a longer look.

I have hand sewn seed beads and sequins on this dress.
I have also created a headband to match with this dress..you can see the beading better in this photo.
